SERVICE
The most accurate way to capture a car or part — high-fidelity 3D scans for design, restoration and reverse engineering.

About this service
3D scanning is the most accurate way to capture a car or a part exactly as it is. Using structured-light and optical tracking scanners we collect millions of data points to build a high-fidelity digital twin of the physical object — completely contactless. It's the foundation for everything that follows: reverse engineering, restoration, quality control and aftermarket parts that actually fit.
For us, scanning is a time machine. We're rarely handed the original blueprints or CAD files of a project car, so we recreate them ourselves with sub-millimetre accuracy. Every curve, mounting point and bracket is captured, then cleaned up in CAD where we can mathematically correct years of wear, rust or accident damage back to factory spec.
From a single bracket to a complete vehicle body, we scan in our studio or travel to your location. We deliver clean, workable files and stay involved so you never have to worry about the technical side.
Steps of the project
Great scans start with the right setup. We scan indoors with controllable lighting (some scans need to be made in the dark) and at least 1.5 metres of space around the object on every side, plus a power outlet nearby. Separate parts like bumpers come off the car and go onto a covered trestle so we can turn them and scan both sides. We'll talk you through everything you need before we arrive — and during scanning, work on the car pauses to keep the data clean.
We start with a quick overview scan using our wireless Shining 3D Einstar Vega. Because it needs no setup, we can capture a full-colour image of the part or the car without disturbing the owner or the mechanics working around it. This reference scan gives every supplier a shared starting point and doubles as the base for high-detailed renders.
When we need more detail we switch to our wired Einstar scanners — small enough to reach into nooks and crannies — and to the Revopoint TRACKIT. The TRACKIT is a high-performance optical tracking system with an 11 m³ tracking volume that needs no adhesive markers on the car, capturing up to 1,500,000 points per second at metrology-grade 0.020 mm accuracy. In short: insane levels of detail without touching the surface.
Scanning is only the first half. We clean up the raw data, correct scan faults and export everything to a workable .OBJ mesh. How long this takes depends on the quality of the scan — which in turn depends on the state of the vehicle, the environment and how reachable each part was — so we invoice this phase on actual hours. Typical turnaround on new scans is around 7 workdays.
We deliver the finished files through a private Google Drive folder, available for 30 days — we recommend downloading them as soon as possible. The original scans are stored offline for a year and can be shared on request. From here, your scans are ready to drive design, CNC machining or 3D printing.
